LattePanda upgrade
An upgrade which adds the LattePanda SoC to an Ender 3 pro
Suggested price: €3.00
Summary
I wanted a better user interface and more possibilities with my Ender 3 so it seemed like a good idea to add a LattePanda to it. The cool thing about this System on Chip is that it runs a standard 64bit OS so it’s just like a regular computer. Besides that it has an Arduino chip on board which enables all kind of fun stuff! I’m working on my own software in LabVIEW, because I’m LabVIEW programmer, but this is still under construction. Once I have a stable version running you’ll find it on my site 🙂 For now, I found out that Repetier host runs fine on this system. To get a small taste about the possibilities I made this video:
Print Settings
Printer: Creality Ender 3 pro
Rafts: No
Supports: No
Resolution: 0.2
Infill: 30%
Filament: Nylon with carbon fiber
Notes:
Just use the material you like. I found out that Nylon with carbon fiber is ESD safe so that’s a good thing when working with electricity. On the other hand you may expect this print to be tested against static discharges but you never know 😉
Mounting instructions
It kind of speaks for itself how everything is mounted but the thing you’ll need are:
- LattePanda; yes, this thing runs on Windows 10. No, I’m not a fan of Windows. Let me know if you find an easier solution which runs on Linux with the same possibilities 😉
- Heatsink fan
- 7 inch display
- Capacitive touch overlay
- Gravity IO Expansion shield
- 16A relay module
- 12V power supply. I just randomly found one which fitted but you should be able to find something online, it’s nothing special.
I’ve bought several other sensors like a current sensor and a capacitive touch button to play with along with LED modules etc. just don’t spend too much time on that site 😉
