These markings are made to be pressed into the existing spool holders (the ones with the cross on the side) so you can see which holder has which number. Initially this seems unnecessary, but this turns out to be more practical than you'd think! You can print the numbers out of one color, but I suggest printing the cross black and the markings in a contrasting color. This can be done on a normal printer using a filament swap.
